Marilyn Horne Homecoming Concert Lighter

A limited edition Zippo lighter marking the occasion of the Marilyn Horne homecoming concert is unveiled at the Zippo/Case Visitors Center.

At times, I get a spiritual, mystical feeling when singing. It's difficult to put into words, because it is tied to the music, but I can only say I experience a sublime peace. Usually, it happens when I'm in recital, since in opera there's so much going on the you can't fully give yourself over to the music, whereas in concert one brief song can bring rapture. - Marilyn Horne : My Life, p. 21

$50.00, includes a polished brass lighter in a walnut case, and a commemorative program showing photos outlining Ms. Horne's career. There is a $8.00 shipping and handling fee - $58.00 total for each - proceeds go to James D. Guelfi Endowment.

Bromely Family Theater, Blaisdell Hall, Univeristy of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Bradford PA

One of America's most beloved actors is playing one of America's most beloved presidents.
Edward Asner is primarily known for his Emmy- winning role as Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off series, Lou Grant. He is also acclaimed for his performance as Captain Davies in the classic mini-series Roots, the man who kidnapped Kunta Kinte and sold him into slavery, a role that earned Asner another Emmy Award. He most recently provided the voice of Carl Fredricksen in Pixar's Academy Award- winning animated film Up.

In FDR, Asner explores the life of one of America's best loved presidents and the events and decisions that helped to shape our nation. This powerful play follows the iconic president as he reflects on his years in office, from his inauguration through the Great Depression to the epic battles of World War II. Edward Asner in FDR makes for stirring historic drama from a great actor and storyteller.
