The Wizard of Oz:

The story is as familiar as it is beloved. That nasty tornado carries Dorothy and her canine pal Toto from the friendly confines of her Kansas home to a fabled fantasy of mystery and magic in the land of Oz. With the help of the Munchkins and Glinda herself, our young Miss Gale and her loyal pooch join forces with the dancing Scarecrow, the romantic Tin Man and, of course, the ever-popular Cowardly Lion. Off they go down the Yellow Brick Road side-stepping Winkies and a Wicked Witch on their perilous journey to find the Wizard and ask for his help. For they are sure his Wizness will grant their wishes and send Dorothy and Toto back to their home...or will he?

Ed Asner as FDR

Monday, September 27, 2010, 7:30 p.m.

Bromely Family Theater, Blaisdell Hall, Univeristy of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Bradford PA

One of America's most beloved actors is playing one of America's most beloved presidents.
Edward Asner is primarily known for his Emmy- winning role as Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off series, Lou Grant. He is also acclaimed for his performance as Captain Davies in the classic mini-series Roots, the man who kidnapped Kunta Kinte and sold him into slavery, a role that earned Asner another Emmy Award. He most recently provided the voice of Carl Fredricksen in Pixar's Academy Award- winning animated film Up.

In FDR, Asner explores the life of one of America's best loved presidents and the events and decisions that helped to shape our nation. This powerful play follows the iconic president as he reflects on his years in office, from his inauguration through the Great Depression to the epic battles of World War II. Edward Asner in FDR makes for stirring historic drama from a great actor and storyteller.
